Catalogues and Price Lists
Digital Printing has opened up a whole new phase in catalogue and price list
printing. With the ability to print full colour in small quantities, catalogues,
price lists, newsletters etc now can look so much more professional. Adding
colour to a catalogue can make it stand out from all the rest.
Most Catalogues and Price Lists are usually wire bound books, the cheapest way
of finishing. But what happens if you have a new item to add or you need to
change the price on something? Either you have to let you clients know of the
change and hope they get it right or, reprint the whole thing.
What if you supplied each of your clients with a 3-ring binder, together with
your catalogue or price list pre-drilled to fit the binder. When you have an
addition or alteration all you have to do is reprint the required page/leaf. You
can also provide a spine insert printed with your details which can be changed
as required. A little more costly at the beginning but a cost saver in the long
term.
Club Journals and Newsletters
Club Journals and Newsletters can also be made to look so much better with the
addition of colour. Most of these items are small quantities and the addition of
colour printing, even just on the covers, will not add greatly to the overall
cost, and if the club or organization is selling advertising it makes it so much
easier to sell that space.
Books and Magazines
Digital Printing of books and magazines has been one of the most innovative
ideas that we have seen for many years. By being able to print small quantities
with digital printing, many writers and poets are now able to self-publish and
many people have printed small numbers of books of their family history. Other
uses are biographies and memoirs, teaching aids, school yearbooks and similar
publications, associations and businesses that may need to print small numbers
of books like manuals etc. Annual Reports are another type of book that can be
printed by Digital Printing.
Finishing of all the above items can be done several ways, depending on the
final use of the product.
Books can be perfect bound, that means that it has a wrap-a-round cover that is
glued down the spine, this is not suitable for books with less than 50 leaves.
For smaller books saddle stitching is the other option, this involves folding
the pages and cover and stitching with 2 staples along the spine.
Wire and comb binding, Mostly done with catalogues and price lists, it involves
punching and inserting either a wire or plastic strip down the left hand edge,
allowance must be made for this when the artwork is done to avoid the punching
going through the type on the page.
Digital Printing can produce books etc from as small as 210 x 99 (DL) size all
the way up to 420 x 297 (A3)
We can run covers in gloss or matte stocks up to 300gsm and for text we can use
several grades of stock ranging from white bond through gloss or matte art. We
recommend not using gloss on text as it can be difficult to read in book form.
